The Soos Nature Reserve is located approximately 70 km from Boží Dar, with a driving time of about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The route leads through Jáchymov, Ostrov, Karlovy Vary, and Sokolov to Františkovy Lázně.
🌿 Soos is one of the most remarkable natural sites in the Czech Republic. Visitors can observe mineral springs, mofettes (natural carbon dioxide vents), extensive peat bogs, and a unique educational trail that runs along wooden boardwalks. Thanks to its extraordinary landscape and geological features, Soos is often referred to as the “Czech Yellowstone.”
🚂 One of the main attractions is the historic Kateřina Mining Train, which will operate from June 27th at 10:00 AM until June 28th at 5:00 PM. Originally used to transport mined materials, this narrow-gauge railway now offers visitors a pleasant ride through the reserve while showcasing the region’s rich mining heritage.
You can easily combine your visit with a trip to Františkovy Lázně or the nearby historic town of Cheb. Thanks to its convenient location and easy access by car, Soos is an ideal day trip destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone interested in industrial history.
A parking area is available directly at the entrance to the reserve, where both the educational trail and the mining train begin.
